Honourable Shittu Rukayat Motunrayo was born on 6th of June, 1996. She hails from Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State. She attended Baptist LGEA Primary School, Surulere, Ilorin, between 1998 and 2004. She thereafter proceeded to Government Girls’ Day Secondary School, Oko-Erin Ilorin between 2005 and 2011. Honourable Rukayat obtained her Diploma certificate in Mass Communication and Islamic Studies in Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies in 2015. She also attended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication in the year 2022. She graduated with Second Class Upper Division from the university.

Honorable Rukayat participated in various seminars and workshops which include; International Media Training Center Workshop in 2020, Introduction to Journalism Trainirelationsa Emerging Women in Politics, IT

Africa Training and Youth Motion Fellowship in 2021. She also attended the cyber Naija with Hashim Project and the Progressive Women Academy in 2022.

She is the first female Senate President of the Congress of Noun Students (CONS). She was a Member of the Congress of NOUN Students, Ilorin Study Centre Representative. She held the post of Public Relations Officer, NOUN Mass Communication Department, General Secretary, NOUN Mass Communication Department, Chief Reporter, Kwara CAILS Mass Communication Department and Sub-Editor, Kwara CAILS Islamic Studies Department.

Honourable Rukayat was an Intern Student at Kwara State Television Authority in 2014 and 2020 respectively before the coronavirus pandemic. She was the Head Teacher of AbdulAzeez Islamic Foundation Nursery/Primary School, Ilorin, in 2015. She also did a post apprentice at Adedigba Fashion Institute in 2017 and Head Teacher FG Npower Scheme between 2016 and 2017. She worked as the Head of the News Department of Just Event Online Publication from 2020 to 2022. Honourable Rukayat is a member of the leading pro-democracy group in Kwara, who was among the top advocate of the 2019 Otoge Revolution in the State, Kwara Must Change.

She contested for the State House of Assembly Seat (Owode/Onire Constituency) under APC and won. After the inauguration of the 10th Legislature, Hon. Shittu was assigned to serve in the following House Committees;

  • House Committee on Youth, Sports and Information (As Chairman)
  • House Services Committee (As Deputy Chairman)
  • House Committee on Energy (As Member)
