Kwara Speaker Commends Gov. Abdulrazaq over donation to windstorm ravaged Baruten Community, fight against COVID-19

…enjoins members to help constituents cushion COVID-19 induced hardship.

The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has commended the Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his unrivaled empathy and commitment to humanitarian services.

Danladi said this while taking delivery of 400 bundles of roofing sheets on behalf of the windstorm ravaged Boriya community of Baruten local government, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Sheriff.

The Speaker, who took the delivery of the relief materials worth over #5million in company of Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu representing Okuta/Yashikira constituency and the State Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora-Sabi expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Boriya, and indeed Baruten, describing the gesture as huge and plausible.

“His Excellency took us by surprise, his kind gestures are huge and we deeply appreciate his empathy and sense of commitment to serving humanity. He recently donated his 100% salaries to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and here we are again, receiving his support for those affected by windstorm. Our people will eternally appreciate this”, Danladi said.

Recall, that political stakeholders from Baruten, had on March 26, 2020 donated relief materials and cash to over 100 houses ravaged by windstorm. In a similar gesture, the Governor earlier this week also announced donation of 100% of his 10months salaries to.the fight against COVID-19 in the State.

The delegation prayed for continued blessing and God guidance for the Governor, as he champions the course of a better Kwara that works for all.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has enjoined the 24 members of the House of Assembly to help their constituents cushion the effect of the COVID-19 induced lockdown in the State through consistent sensitization and distribution of relief materials.

The lawmaker commended the lawmakers of the 9th Assembly, describing them as humane and highly committed to the welfare of their constituents and development of Kwara as a whole.

Danladi while acknowledging donations to constituents by some members said “I want to commend members of the 9th Assembly for rising to the occasion in this trying period, I also enjoin us all to endeavor to take the message of this deadly virus to our various constituency, we need to help sensitize our people on why they must obey and adhere strictly to the lockdown guidelines which are in our own interest as a people, while we as lawmakers also help them cushion the effect of the stay at home by distributing relief materials” he stressed.
