Kwara Speaker charges ex-lawmaker Cecelia Ore’s family to sustain her legacies

The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has charged family of late Hon. (Mrs) Cecelia Ore, a former member of the Kwara state House of Assembly who passed on to the great beyond, to sustain her legacies.The Speaker made this call during a condolence visit to the Mandate Housing Estate, Irewolede – Ilorin home of the deceased.Represented by the Chairman House Committee on Works and Transport and member representing Ekiti Constituency, Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel, Danladi described the deceased as a mother with so much passion for youth and communal development, noting that she would be greatly missed.Abolarin said “I served as a Councilor while Mama was the Vice Chairman of Ekiti Local Government In 2004, and later Chairperson when the then Chairman, Dele Abiodun was impeached, she was a mother figure to me”.As a member of the 7th Kwara State House of Assembly, who served between 2007-2011, Mama is our senior colleague and the laudable records of her service to our dear State are indelible, we hold her in high esteem.“We would have honoured her at today’s plenary, which was unfortunately called off as a precaution against COVID-19 pandemic and that is why we have come to pay our respect to her and condole the family today. I enjoin the deceased children and family to sustain the legacies of the deceased patriot.“The Hon. Speaker and all of us at the 9th Assembly sympathize with the family, we pray God be with you and fill the huge vacuum caused by Mama’s death”, he added.Responding on behalf of the family, Barr. Akin Ore thanked the 9th Assembly for the honour done to the deceased, noting that the family followed the sequence of events that led to the shut down of the Assembly and other public institutions.“We appreciate the leadership of the 9th Assembly and Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel for the condolence visit, we are tentatively considering 17th – 18th April for the burial depending on the prevailing situations of COVID-19 pandemic”.Hon. Ganiyu Gabriel was joined by the Special Assistant, Media to the Speaker, Ibrahim Sheriff and other Assembly staff on the condolence visit.
